Ramsaran Sangeet Mahavidyalaya

Ramsharan College of Music is one of the oldest music college in Bishnupur, Bankura, West Bengal. This college was established in 1885 by sangeet guru Ramsharan Mukhopadhyay. It is also considered as oldest music college in India. Bishnupur "Gharana" was associated with Sangeetacharya Ramsankar Bhattacharyya, Jadu Bhatta,- (The Music teacher of Rabindranath Tagore), Sangeet Kesori Anantalal Bandopadhyay, Ramprasanna Bandopadhayay, Radhikaprasad Goswami, Jyanendraprasad Goswami, and many others . The founder Principle of Ramsharan College Of Music was the most notable exponent of the "Gharana", Desikottam Dr. Gopeswar Bandopadhyay". After his death, his reputed brother "Padmashree Sangeet Ratnakar Surendranath Bandopadhyay" became the principle. This music Mahavidyalaya is a pride of Bishnupur.
