The Mythic society which was founded in 1909, is a pioneer institution for Indic studies in South India. It is housed in a beautiful heritage building called Daly Memorial Hall built in 1917 . The Society has many research programs , conducts talks and seminars by experts in history , epigraphy , anthropology , sociology, culture etc , and also publishes scholarly books . The best section of the Society is the amazing LIBRARY , which is a treasure house for reference books , in English and in Kannada, on the above subjects . And a plethora of magazines . It is one of the best libraries in South India . There is no membership fee . Anyone is free to walk in and read , but books cannot be borrowed . The place is kept spic and span , well lit and ventilated , best ambience for reading . The staff is helpful in searching for and getting the required books. Even if not for reading books , it is a wonderful place to visit .
Good collection of historical books, extremely peaceful and well-maintained. Underrated!
Walked to Mythic Society. Established in 1917, it's immaculately maintained. Foundation laid by Mysore Maharaja.
Mythic society has a rich history as a platform for intellectual debates, discussions and seminars. The Daly Hall is the main building which is currently under renovation. The society also has a library and another hall in the premises.
The Mythic Society in Bangalore is a venerable institution dedicated to the study of Indology, anthropology, and South Indian history. Founded in 1909, it boasts an impressive library with over 46,000 volumes, including rare texts like the Epigraphia Carnatica. Notably, one of its presidents, Sri M.K.L.N. Shastry, was an eminent personality and a classmate of my father. The society's rich legacy is underscored by its association with luminaries like C.V. Raman and Rabindranath Tagore. Its contributions to cultural and historical research make it a significant cultural hub in Bangalore, fostering a deep understanding of India's diverse heritage.
Century old society on Indic studies in center of Bengaluru Karnataka , haven't gone inside, looks well maintained and gardenened.
It is a shrine of books. Blessed to have found this library You should write your name in the registry, then tell which books or titles or genre you need, the librarian will search it on the computer and give it to you. Philosophy, religion, spirituality, history, biographies, autobiographies, countries, world history are the genres which intrigued me, lot more to explore. I've seen both Kannada and English books. The library is as clean as a temple. Well maintained and brilliantly organized. Staff over here are really good. Must visit for a Bengalurian
