Ustad Allauddin Khan Academy

The Dhrupad Kendra in Bhopal (India) is a great opportunity for Indians as well as all foreigners to experience the most ancient vocal tradition of india: I myself coming from Austria in Europe enjoyed very much staying at this school with such friendly and supportive students, lead by the experienced Dhrupad master Ashish Sankrityayan. Anyone interested can join, you don't need to be a professional singer in order to learn some basics of this meditative style.

The Dhrupad Kendra Bhopal is an institution established by the State of Madhya Pradesh to impart training in the traditional teacher-apprentice or guru-shishya system to aspiring dhrupad singers. The Kendra is a residential institute where the teacher, accompanist and students live in the same campus. The Kendra admits regular full time students who are supported by a State scholarship. A few full time students are also admitted on a non scholarship basis. Visiting students can also come and experience the intensive system of traditional training for short periods.

This place belongs to Madhya Pradesh cultural department it has a art gallery also which is renovated last month and reopened with an art exhibition of tribal artist. It's heartening to know know that new director of academy is making fresh efforts to rejuvenate the functions of this academy and organising different art related and music events which I think will be e a great boon for art scenario of Madhya Pradesh.
